Meet BurnYoulli's Evasion!
We asked our skaters to write a little something about their experience at CVRD, and Burn jumped in right away with the most heartwarming testimonial a league could ever hope for! This is no surprise, honestly, because Burn's quiet but upbeat demeanor does wonders for the general morale and positivity level at our practices. Thanks for being part of our league, Burney! Watch out for this skater as she hones her skills and becomes a force to reckon with. But first, some photos of Burn back when she was a brand new skater and her thoughts on joining CVRD.
"Practice is one of the places I feel most comfortable, confident, happy, and able to be my weird self."
"As a shy person with social anxiety, I struggled to get involved in groups and make friends after I moved to Vermont. When I first tried roller derby with CVRD I found myself surrounded by welcoming, supportive, and encouraging people. Now, practice is one of the places I feel most comfortable, confident, happy, and able to be my weird self. I also used to be incredibly failure-averse to the point where I would turn down or avoid opportunities for fear of failure. Roller derby is helping me to realize that failure is an important part of growth, learning, and personal improvement. It’s helping me build confidence to try new things and challenge myself. I’m so grateful I finally tried it and that roller derby is a part of my life. Also, my butt looks better than it used to." - BurnYoulli's Evasion

Thanks, Burn! Her name is a reference to Bernoulli's Equation, by the way. Look it up - you might learn something. :) Fun fact: she is incredibly flexible and she leads our warmup and cool down stretches every practice!
